Brian Freeman: brilliant talk about writing and Spilled Blood

November 30, 2012

Quercus author Brian Freeman was awarded the title of Best Hardcover Novel at the 2013 Thriller Awards in New York. This year marked the International Thriller Writers’ 8th year of conducting the award ceremony, and past winners have included Stephen King, Lisa Gardner, and John Sandford.

Brian’s winning title, Spilled Blood, has been called “everything a great suspense novel should be: gripping, shocking, and moving,” by New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner. The paperback edition of Spilled Blood will be published by Quercus in April 2014.

Here’s Brian talking about this magnificent book

On a March night outside the river town of Barron, Minnesota, three teenage girls gather in a ghost town to play a terrifying game of Russian roulette.

By morning, one girl will be dead, and another in jail. Olivia Hawk claims she didn’t pull the trigger on Ashlynn Steele, but no one believes her.

Olivia’s best hope is her estranged father, an attorney from the city, who she barely knows any more. And if he’s going to prove Olivia’s innocence, he’s going to have to learn everything about her public – and private – life, however much she might like to keep hidden.
