The best books to look forward to…

A brand new year means an entire year full of beautiful new books! We’ve put together a list of the books we’re most looking forward to in 2018 – take a look and get inspired for your next reading choice!

Aimee

I’m really looking forward to The Wicked Cometh by Laura Carlin (Hodder) I love historical novels with a compelling storyline and brilliant female characters, so this looks right up my street. Plus the cover is so stunning!

Circe (Bloomsbury)  is another book I can’t wait to read. Everyone seems to be talking about it, and the cover is simply sublime. I need this on my shelf!

Helena

It’s another year of stunning books and I can’t wait for everyone to read The Wildflowers by Harriet Evans (Headline) – this is a such a sweeping tale to indulge in on a wet, rainy afternoon. I also cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of Still Me by Jojo Moyes. Me Before You was the first Jojo Moyes I read and since then (and the film which had me weeping for days) I’ve loved following Lou’s story.

Vicky

So much on offer for 2018. I am particularly excited by Lullaby by Leïla Slimani (Faber) – I was sent an early copy at the end of last year and couldn’t put it down. Beautiful cover artwork and very chilling storytelling. The other is the paperback of MsLexia Prize winning Larchfield by Polly Clark (Quercus) which is book tied in to a woman’s struggle with isolation and sanity (Like Lullaby). Not sure what this is saying about my Christmas holiday in the countryside! Finally Feel Free by Zadie Smith has to be on there. She is always a firm favourite – and I hear she has gone down a new direction with the new book.

Alice

There are so many fantastic debuts on the horizon in 2018! Aside from the brilliant Trying by Emily Phillips, out this month, there’s How Do You Like Me Now? that we in Hodder are publishing in June. Holly Bourne is well-known as a YA author but this is her adult debut. It’s blisteringly funny and completely true-to-life. And in March there’s Entanglement by Katy Mahood. Not published by any of the Bookends publishers (it’s published by Borough, an imprint of HarperCollins), but the author is one of my oldest friends and it’s so exciting to see her long dream to be published come to life. So forgive the plug!

Hannah

This year I’m really looking forward to Rosanna Ley’s latest book Her Mother’s Secret (Quercus) I’m currently planning my summer holidays and dreaming of sun-drenched countryside, so I can’t wait to read this beauty in March in anticipation of the summer ahead. I also can’t wait to read Louise O’Neill’s reimagining of The Little Mermaid – The Surface Breaks! Louise is known for her feminist commentaries and I think this will be no exception, plus you can practically guarantee that the cover will be glittery and covered in mermaid scales (and who doesn’t want that on their shelves)
