On this day in 1916 Irwin Allen was born in New York City, and 60’s television SF was set on a collision course with awesome!

From 1964 to 1970, Irwin Allen was TV science fiction. From the ‘space family Robinson’ high-camp of Lost in Space, via the era-spanning adventures of The Time Tunnel, to the oversized-prop-of-the-week in Land of the Giants, Irwin Allen had young boys and girls around the world glued to their TV sets for that week’s instalment of action and adventure.
