Key Account Manager- Orion, Hachette UK

Who we are and what we do

Orion Books, a division of Hachette UK, publishes commercial, award-winning popular fiction and non-fiction, with an excellent record of publishing Sunday Times Top Ten Bestsellers.  It is home to bestselling authors including Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly, Erica James, The Supervet, Fearne Cotton and Joanne Harris.

What you will be doing

Reporting directly to the Orion Sales Director you will be a responsible for the account management of two of our biggest accounts, Waterstones and Tesco.   You will be responsible for growing the sales across each of these accounts profitably by working closely with the wider Orion Book Group company.    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to work on some of the biggest brands in the business, across two of the largest retail accounts.

You will ideally have previous key account management experience.

What we are looking for

The most successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional analytical skills, be an excellent communicator and have strong organisational skills, confidence working with figures and when dealing with customers, attention to detail, the ability to multitask and take initiative as well as being an excellent team player.

The key tasks of the role will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct management of Waterstones and Tesco accounts and working with these customers to exceed budget expectations for Orion
  • Key liaison with other departments for these accounts (e.g. editorial, publicity, marketing)
  • Analyse competitor activity
  • Analyse key authors and sales comparisons
  • Presenting and selling new titles on a regular basis using the best available sales material
  • Identify and develop key strategies for each account in order to increase customer performance and profitability

 

Excellent Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and data analysis skills are essential.

This role is based in our London office, as part of an experienced team in a creative and dynamic working environment.
